Supplier shipment consolidation
Bring goods from multiple China suppliers into one receiving plan. Keep each product and batch traceable, then decide what should ship together.
For overseas-operated sellers and brands working with China suppliers. Not a US domestic warehouse or a two-day delivery promise.
What supplier shipment consolidation means
Supplier shipment consolidation receives goods from more than one supplier at the same warehouse before an onward shipment. It can reduce separate handoffs and let you review packing, quantities and optional inspection in one place. It is not reducing your supplier list, sourcing a new product catalog, destination-country fulfillment or an automatic cheaper freight service.
Separate suppliers still need separate incoming references. A missing carton, rejected sample or late batch must remain visible; it should not be hidden inside a combined shipment total. You can request one combined shipment, several onward shipments or storage while another supplier finishes.
A simple receiving-to-shipping plan
- Confirm product eligibility and receiving instructions before suppliers dispatch. Create the expected SKU and batch list for each supplier.
- Ask each supplier to use the correct customer and shipment reference. Record their tracking or dispatch information.
- Review actual warehouse receiving, quantities and exceptions. Expected goods are not available stock.
- Agree any inspection, labels, cartons or packing changes. Review the quote before extra work.
- Decide which accepted stock leaves together, confirm the destination and eligible shipping option, then follow payment and dispatch requirements.
Compare the whole shipment, not just the freight rate
Consolidation is useful when it fits your stock and timing. It may be less useful when one supplier is late, fragile products need different packaging, a restricted item needs a separate route or you need one batch urgently. Use the same shipment scope on both quotes.
Each actual receiving batch has 90 calendar days of free storage, followed by USD 0.40 per CBM per day using verified stored-unit volume. Combining, repacking or relabeling does not reset batch age. Receiving, optional work, storage and onward freight are distinct costs; an inquiry does not authorize purchasing or dispatch.
What to confirm in each quote
| Cost or condition | Confirm before approval |
|---|---|
| Received stock | Actual SKUs, quantities and supplier batches, not an expected total. |
| Packing and prep | Included work, carton dimensions, labels, extra materials and optional inspection. |
| Freight | Destination, service, staff-measured packed weight and dimensions, exclusions and any route conditions. |
| Storage | Separate receiving dates, verified volume and planned dispatch timing. |
| Duty and tax | Who pays, what is included and which destination requirements still need review. |
| Timing and proof | Which supplier must arrive first, remaining exceptions and the evidence required before release. |
Example: two suppliers, one onward plan
Illustrative workflow, not a real customer shipment: Supplier A sends 80 units of SKU A; Supplier B sends 40 units of SKU B. Register two inbound batches, review both receiving records and keep a quantity exception on SKU B visible. Agree the corrected quantity and any prep, then choose whether the accepted goods leave together. A later arrival does not restart the earlier batch storage clock. No savings percentage or delivered cost is assumed.
Questions about consolidation
Does supplier consolidation always lower shipping costs?
No. Compare the same destination, packed weight, dimensions, service, handling, storage and tax assumptions. Waiting for a late supplier or adding repacking can outweigh a lower freight quote. Ask for a like-for-like quote before deciding.
Can I inspect one supplier batch and release another?
Scope the inspection and release instructions per supplier batch and SKU. Do not treat one batch report as evidence for another batch or mix approved and unresolved goods. Extra inspection and separate shipments need an agreed quote.
Does combining cartons restart the free storage period?
No. Each actual receiving batch has its own 90 calendar days of free storage. Relabeling, repacking or combining cartons does not reset the receiving date. Later storage is USD 0.40 per CBM per day based on verified stored-unit volume.
Can the combined shipment go to Amazon FBA or another warehouse?
Request the destination and work you need: FBA prep, your own warehouse, a third-party warehouse or another eligible address. Product eligibility, labels, carton instructions, freight and handoff conditions require confirmation. A request does not book a carrier or guarantee destination acceptance.
Start with one receiving plan
Prepare the supplier list, expected SKUs and quantities, plus the onward destination. Register only the details needed for the first task.
